The much anticipated release of the GT Air to the local market has finally materialized!

Shoei developed the GT Air with the sport touring rider in mind. As such the helmet is extremely comfortable and boasts features that are both convenient and practical. The sporty, yet super quiet helmet was developed using the advanced wind tunnel facilities at Shoei.

Perhaps the most noticeable design feature is the indentations on either side of the crown of the helmet. Aside from presenting a sporty and aggressive appearance they also represent an aerodynamic and safety element. The appearance of the indentation is accentuated by the bulge at the front of the head which is a housing space that accommodates the inner sun visor without compromising the safety integrity of the shell.

The built-in sun visor is the first such feature in a Shoei full-face helmet and follows the design features of the Shoei Neotec. The sun visor lever mechanism is conveniently located on the left side next to the visor. This means that the lever is away from where any after-market communications systems might be fixed.

The visor conforms to European sunglass standards and offers more than 99% UV protection. 

The GT Air is equipped with the same CNS-1 shield as the Neotec that offers improved visibility and reduced wind noise. The Pinlock system is standardized to contribute toward a more comfortable and safe ride through reduced fogging.

The advanced ventilation design of the GT Air includes 2 upper air intake entrances and 1 exhaust vent as well as a lower intake. All ventilation parts are adjustable to suit conditions and rider preferences.

The stainless steel micro ratchet chinstrap with steel interlocking mechanism offers maximum safety and at the same time minimizes wind noise.

Shoei is synonymous with helmet safety and the highly regarded AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) Shoei shell structure offers the lightest possible weight without compromising safety. The GT Air also includes the EQRS (Emergency Quick Release System) that is also found on other Shoei helmets such as the XSpirit 2 and VFXW.

Metzeler have launched their third-generation street enduro Tourance Next tyres, which are fitted to the new BMW R1200GS. (Sizes for this bike are 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17)

The new Tourance™ Next is the third generation of the Tourance range and was specifically designed for latest generation street enduro and adventure touring bikes.

Tourance™ Next sets the new standard for the segment where grip on wet roads is concerned as well as in terms of safety thanks to the new compounds developed for the front and rear which work in synergy with new grooves arranged optimally on the tread.

This tyre can therefore guarantee excellent grip in the wet, conveying a sensation of total safety to the rider in any condition, even when the asphalt is dirty and slippery.

In fact, the tyre structure and profile were designed to absorb bumps in the Tarmac in order to provide greater stability even at high speeds, and with the bike loaded down with top box and passenger in mind. They were also designed for better interaction with the ABS and braking system.

The particularly resistant structure of the carcass creates a rigidity that translates into greater and easier handling of the bike.

The combination and interaction of the new tread and latest generation compounds result in a significant improvement compared to its predecessors in the Tourance family in terms of mileage, thanks to better and more even tread wear.

The new Metzeler Tourance Next is now available in 120/70 R 19 MC 60V and 170/60 R17 72V as original equipment on the latest addition to the BMW family, as well as in 120/70 ZR 17 M/C 58W, 110/80 R 19 M/C 59V and 90/90 – 21 M/C 54V for the front and 140/80 R 17 M/C 69V, 150/70 R 17 M/C 69V, 160/60 ZR 17 M/C 69W, 180/55 ZR 17 M/C 73W and 190/55 ZR 17 M/C 75W for the rear.
