I’ve recently been obsessed with Japanese culture thanks to ‘YouView’ and my unlimited bandwidth. Japan is definitely a country of “Masters” that are driven to create perfection, be it swords, fighting styles, cars, techno gadgets, neon signage and, of course, motorcycles. So with the recent release of the 2014 Yamaha T-Max 530 it made me wonder if this machine is just a massive and slightly vulgar scooter, or yet another masterpiece from the land of the rising sun.

When the public first saw the concept version of this particular KTM their jaws dropped in a similar fashion to seeing and having Maria Sharapova standing in your bedroom wearing nothing but a smile whilst holding a bottle of hot baby oil, well sort of.

It’s taken Yamaha a long time to create a new YZ250F after their brilliant debut back in 2001. Since then all they’ve done is to basically dress up the old girl with a large hat and hoped no one would notice. Well we did, so it makes us wonder if this all new 2014 YZ250F has just received a new hat and frock or does it come with a much-needed complete makeover?
