What is the epitome of British? Is it the pomp and ceremony from the era of Queen Victoria or is the Britain of pubs, punks, football hooligans and page 3 girls, or is it the modern loft apartment, luxury cars, investment banking and private dinners with Gordon Foo’kin Ramsey?
What on earth happened to the ‘middleweight’ motorcycle class, eh? What bloated buffoon sat around a table, probably drinking an expensive, imported and sparkling (fizzy to us) water that decided to percolate from the lower hills of the Himalayas? You know how these boardroom meetings go, and the cost? He or she must now be shot at dawn!
Take a ‘normal’ V-twin, twist it through 90-degree, put it back into the bike frame and what do you have? A Moto Guzzi that’s what! There’s absolutely no doubt that Moto Guzzi has possibly the most distinctive engines in motorcycling and I for one love their ‘in-your-face layout, don’t you?
Wasn’t the good ol’ sixties a marvelous era to be part of? Think of things like the Beatles, Hendrix, mini-skirts and of course ‘free love’, (which means you had sex without ‘investing’ R500 behind the bar), and of course motorbikes. But there were also bad memories, like Vietnam and the end of ‘free love’, for example.
