logosHi All

Our last Breakfast run for the year is on Sunday the 13th. As usual we meet at Mug & Bean Woodmead.  Arrive from 7.30 if you want to socialise and we leave at 8am sharp.

Please arrive with sufficient fuel.

We will go to Engedi Conference Centre out towards Sterkfontein. They do an excellent buffet breakfast at under R100 for motorcyclists. We will travel the long way around past Lanseria and along the satellite road, then back towards Sterkfontein.

If possible please rsvp to my email address.

01 YYThe 2016 60th Anniversary Yamaha MX bikes are now available throughout South Africa. We absolutely love these old retro colours, the same as used on Kenny Roberts’ 70/80s GP bikes, and we’re sure eager buyers will too.02 YY

Unfortunately, due to our crumbling Rand, they’re going to be expensive with the YZ450F costing around R110,000 and the 250F slightly cheaper. But there’s no denying that they’re both stunning looking and really don’t deserve to be thrown around in the sand and mud, right?

Go to www.yamaha.co.za to find your closest Yamaha dealer.

Also have a visit to www.centurionyamaha.co.za to purchase more 2016 Yamaha motorcycles.end bike test

01It seems more and more classic bikes are oozing out of the woodwork. Days, months and even years can go into resurrecting and restoring these little beauties, and from the end results of what we have on offer here the painstaking hours spent in the garage has been fruitful.02

So, we have all these nice ‘oldies’ appearing and it seems a shame to just ride them around the streets of Johannesburg and this frustrated Andrew Plummer, the owner of Centurion Yamaha, and therefore he decided to organize a weekend away from the metropolis and have fun around the gorgeous surroundings of Eastern Transvaal. Hurrah for him!03

17 of us made the effort and we’re sure more will follow at the next event and we all enjoyed pleasant accommodation in our base camp in Sabie. Of course much drinking and merriment followed over the course of the next few days with the usual hangovers the following morning, which didn’t prevent anyone from enjoying these incredible roads and breathtaking scenery. And before you ask no accidents happened, surprisingly, besides a silencer flying off a Yamaha SR500 and nearly decapitating the rider behind!04

After a 200km ride visiting the roads around Hazyview, Graskop, Pilgrim’s Rest and God’s Window we all agreed that classic bikes are still tons of fun and keep you in touch with ‘real’ riding and not masked with over complicated modern electronics that today’s bikes have. And watching guys bounce around with antiquated suspension and highly flexible frames is hilarious to say the least and much ‘haa haarin’ rippled through the countryside every time we stopped. 0506

So if you're keen on joining the next Classic Ride go to www.centurionyamaha.co.za for contact details and speak to either Andrew or Paul and bring out your classic bike of any age or make, instead of it gathering dust in your garage. We’ll guarantee you’ll have the time of your life, make new friends and go home with many stories, which is what life on a classic bike is all about, right?
